Wheeling, WV Police Department

Thank you Wheeling, WV Police Department for your tireless commitment to eradicate Domestic Violence.

Today, October 22, is Domestic Violence Awareness Day. To bring attention to this matter, police detectives, officers and our victim advocate (and K9 Keeni) are wearing purple.

Awareness day falls within Domestic Violence Awareness Month (October) and serves as a reminder of how serious and unfortunately common domestic violence occurs.

WPD is proud to have a victim advocacy program that partners with local organizations to help those affected by domestic violence.

You can learn more about WPD’s Victim Advocacy Program at wheelingwv.gov/victimadvocacy or call the YWCA Wheeling local 24-hour toll-free hotline at 1-800-698-1247.
