Juneteenth Celebration will be taking place on June 18 from 5:00-7:30 and the main celebration will take place June 19 starting at 5. Mark your calendars.

OVAASA Awards Banquet

Cultural Diversity and Community Outreach Director, Ron Scott will be holding the Ohio Valley African American Student Association Scholarship Banquet on May 26 at River City. Nominated students will receive scholarships ranging in amount.

Mark your calendars for 2022 Mini-Con! 

May 28 at YWCA Wheeling 12:00-5:00 PM 1100 Chapline Street, Wheeling, WV 26003

We will have shows, games, raffles, food and drinks, vendor tables, and of course a costume contest with prizes for 1st place! Categories include 12 and under, 13-18 and 18+. You will sign up the day of the Mini-Con and the contest will take place at 4:00PM. 

A SURPRISE ceremony will take place at 2:00PM!

Stand Against Racism Challenge - PASSED

Join us during this year’s Stand Against Racism campaign as we bring awareness to racism within our communities and connect with other partners and allies to build pathways toward racial equity and justice. We plan to do this through a 21-Day Challenge that we host via email and within a private Facebook group.

Reality At A Glace - PASSED

In honor of National Crime Victims Rights’ Week (April 24-30), the YWCA will be holding a film comprised of local individuals to showcase the reality of crimes in our area. These will be thought provoking videos to shed light on these issues and the rights of victims in these circumstances. We will focus on crimes such as human trafficking, hate crimes, addiction, domestic violence and homelessness. The film lasts about 30 minutes, plus discussion afterwards. The event will be held at the back lot of West Virginia Northern. Bring your own chair.

Textured Hair Expo (PASSED)

On Monday, March 14 from 5:30PM-7:30PM at Bridge Street Middle School. The YWCA, licensed social worker Unique Robinson & Bridge Street Middle have collaborated with various hair stylists and barbers to demonstrate for parents of children who have textured hair, how to maintain it. The event is open to all, including biological, foster/adoptive and kinship family members of children in the Ohio Co. School District.

Self-Defense Empowerment Workshop (PASSED)

Sexual Assault Help Center will be having a Self-Defense Course, free and open to the public, at the YWCA on Saturday, March 12th from 2:00PM-4:00PM. Donations are accepted. Any person and child is welcome to attend. RSVP for the event by emailing

No-More Awareness Walk & Run (PASSED)

YWCA Wheeling will be having an awareness walk and run at Oglebay on Sunday, March 6 to kick-off No More Week, a national movement to end domestic violence and sexual assault. The event is free and open to the public, donations encouraged. The even will be held rain or shine at the Susan Wheeler Trail starting at Shenk Lake. There will be booths set up at the Wagon Trail Shed with information and a chance to win $100 VISA gift card!
